Hubby and I are soooo happy to be one step closer to adopting "S".
We have been busily working on paperwork and requirements such as fingerprints and homestudy homework for the last couple of weeks. Our final homestudy visit was today. Today's topics dealt mostly with travel and life once "S" is home. Our travel discussions and handouts centered around our safety and health and packing for our trip. We talked much about the development of children and especially the development and possible delays infants and children may have that live in orphanages. (We are thankful that Hannah's Hope is awesome).We are confident and feel fully prepared for our newest child God has chosen for us and pray each day he will attach to our family and flourish in physical, emotional, social, and developmental growth. We are well aware of medical testing that will be done for "S", and what we will need to do for him when we return with him. We love our pediatrician and have already contacted his office regarding international adoption. They are confident in their testing and have much experience in the area of international adoption. We will also be in contact with speech pathologist, occupational therapists, and other professionals if need be. Luckily Big Hubby and I have many friends in these fields to offer advice and to answer our questions. Our biggest concern right now is attaching with "S" and making him feel comfortable and safe. We feel God will help with this!!We also discussed other things such as the paperwork still to come and our requirements, such as getting his Visa and how to apply for that. "S" will be adopted by us in Ethiopia and return home to us under an Ethiopian birth certificate and adoption. We will then petition to have him adopted here in the United States upon our arrival "forever" home!!!!!
