Hubby and I are in the process of working with our generous friends to coordinate fundraisers to help get "S" forever home! We wanted to give you an idea of what is to come. Please let us know if you are interested in helping!
We are collecting donations for our garage sale now. The date of the sale will be in the spring or possibly early summer. We are ready to store items cluttering your home at any time. Please contact Cara @ themcs7@gmail.com.
We will be selling t-shirts in honor of adoption ,with a possible "Team Hensley" spin to them. If you are interested in helping our friend Becky who is designing a logo for the shirt (which will also be our family logo on other items), please contact her @ becjo13@aol.com . More info and a t-shirt example to come. Our thoughts are to wear our t-shirts to support international adoption. It would also be great to wear them at our fundraisers and at the airport when you are invited to welcome "S" home.

If you are looking for a good workout and some laughs, you will enjoy our casual basketball tournament. Details will come later for this, but we thought you would like to start gathering teams of five and begin warming up and stretching those muscles out (heehee). If you are interested in playing or helping, please contact Jason @ DRENGWIJ@unit5.org. I'm sure when the games are over, we can meet at a local establishment for pop to celebrate not breaking any bones. (ha)

Yay! The homestudy is really a big step.... so make sure you have your birth certificates, and marriage certs. and go ahead and let your bosses at work know that you will need an employment verfication letter and it has to be notarized but wait until you get your dossier binder before you actually do it. You need 2 letters of Recommendation so scout out some friends:) oh and you need a bunch of pictures of your house and individual shots of the people in your house and like a couple of you all together.... oh the big one is to start making a monthly budget and list of assets because that is part of it too.... ok I am totally rambling but that is what I can remember and will get you started until you get your dossier binder!!! congrats! let me know if you need anything else!
Um, for our rec letters it just needed to be 1 page and by someone who has known you both for 5 years....and i think it needs to state you're adopting from ethiopia and you'll make excellent parents and it needs to be notarized.....but it could be different so you might want to wait.
and the budget is just like an average of what bills you have for a typical month and what your average income is for a month....then a separate list of what assets you have like your house and car and yada yada yada. Compiling this was helpful because we needed it when we were filing for grants as well.
man, you may beat my record of finishing my dossier in two weeks:) .....although it took me 3 months to get all the money so I could send the darn thing in!
